We currently have an opportunity for a skilled Production Engineer to join our team. We are an established family-owned subcontract engineering firm specializing in precision CNC machining. We supply predominately machined steel fabrications and cast-iron components to industry, ranging from 100 kg to 3 tonnes. The role provides the opportunity to work within our award-winning engineering facility in Rochdale alongside a team of highly skilled machinists using the latest technology.
The hours of work are 39 per week. In addition, the role offers a benefits package including, pension, 35 days holiday per annum and death-In-service benefit. The Company’s location has excellent motorway links and is close to Junction 20, M62.
The Role…
· Offline programming & creation of NC programmes using CAD/CAM packages (Currently SolidCAM) to produce low volume precision parts across a variety of milling and turning applications.
· Design and specification of all tooling and fixtures required at planning stage and during production and managing tooling as a resource.
· Creation of required production drawings, fixture drawings and repair procedures.
· Working proactively with the production management team to achieve dual goals of customer’s requirements and cost effectiveness
· Planning out machining method and working proactively with machine operators to achieve successful implementation of design and tooling plan.
· Continuous improvement in quality and efficiency throughout the manufacturing process from planning stage through to production, including trouble shooting the manufacturing process.
· Complying with Company policies including H&S and quality.
· Assist in maintaining the Company’s drawing database.

In order to be successful in this position as a Production Engineer, you will have the following skills and experience.
Essential…..
· Proven experience in writing/editing programs and drawing interpretation.
· Proven experience of creating engineering drawings including all geometrical tolerances and dimensioning.
· Time served apprentice or equivalent qualifications in addition to proven industrial experience.

· Sound understanding of materials, modern cutting methods, and engineering processes.
· Able to work independently.
· Pro-active in problem solving.
· Flexible approach to working.
· Methodical, detail orientated with strong mechanical aptitude.
